# Spend (S) - Where does your AI budget go?

The Spend pillar shows the complete picture of your AI tool costs. Track total spending across seat licenses, API tokens, and compute charges. Break down costs by task type—see whether your team is spending more on code generation, documentation, or bug fixes. Compare models to identify which ones carry the highest price tags. Calculate cost per PR to benchmark efficiency and spot anomalies. Use this pillar to answer: What are we actually paying for AI, and is it distributed as intended?

**Key metrics:**

* Total AI Spend — aggregate cost across all tools and licenses
* Cost per PR — mean expense attributed to each merged pull request
* Token Breakdown — percentage of spend by task type (code generation, documentation, bug fix, code review, refactoring, testing, miscellaneous)
* Model Breakdown — prompts and costs by AI model, with option to group by task type or language
