# Utilization (U) — How effectively you're using licenses and compute

The Utilization pillar answers whether your seats are earning their keep. See how many licenses are actively used versus sitting idle. Track token consumption to understand compute intensity. Identify over-utilized developers who may be at risk of burnout or sharing seats. Drill into individual users to spot patterns—who's consistently engaged, who's occasional, and who's not using AI at all. This pillar helps you right-size licensing and identify adoption gaps.

**Key metrics:**

* Total Tokens — aggregate token consumption across all AI sessions
* Utilization Rate — percentage of paid licenses with at least one active session
* Idle Seat Cost — dollars spent on unused licenses
* Seat Utilization Breakdown — per-team view of utilized, idle, and over-utilized seats with user-level drill-down
* Token Breakdown by Task Type — understand where compute is concentrated
