# PagerDuty

Integrating PagerDuty with Hivel brings your PagerDuty incidents and services into view, giving you visibility into incident response times and resolution patterns alongside your other engineering metrics.

## What You'll Need

* **PagerDuty Domain**: the subdomain of your PagerDuty account, visible in your browser's address bar while signed in (e.g. `hivel.pagerduty.com`)
* **API Token**: a PagerDuty API key with read-only access (generated in Step 1)

## How to Integrate PagerDuty with Hivel

### **Step 1: Generate a Read-Only API Key in PagerDuty**

**Application:** PagerDuty

1. Log in to your PagerDuty account  (`https://<your-domain>.pagerduty.com`).
2. Go to **Integrations** in the top navbar.

3. Select **API Access Keys**.

4. Click **Create New API Key**.

5. Enter a **description** (preferably "hivel-integration-prod").

6. Check **Read-only API Key**. *(Hivel only needs read access to your incidents and services.)*
7. Click **Create Key**.
8. Copy the generated API key and save it securely. **This key displays only once—if lost, delete it from PagerDuty and create a new one.**<br>

9. Note your PagerDuty domain from the address bar; you'll need it for Step 2.

### **Step 2: Connect PagerDuty to Hivel**

**Application:** Hivel Platform

1. Log in to Hivel.
2. Go to **Settings and s**elect **Integrations**.<br>

3. Navigate to the **CI/CD** tab.
4. Find the **PagerDuty** card and click **Connect**.<br>

5. Fill in the required details:

* **PagerDuty Domain**: your PagerDuty subdomain from Step 1, (e.g. `hivel.pagerduty.com)`.
* **API Token**: the key from Step 1.

7. Check the "**Please verify you are an Admin to proceed"** checkbox.
8. Click **Integrate PagerDuty**.<br>

You've successfully connected PagerDuty to Hivel.

### **Step 3: Map PagerDuty Services to Teams**

**Application:** Hivel Platform

Map each PagerDuty service to the Hivel team it covers, so incidents link to the correct team.

1. Go to **Settings**.
2. Select **Configuration**.<br>

3. Under **Organization**, open the **Incident Configuration** tab.<br>

4. Map each PagerDuty service to it's corresponding team and click **Save**.

Services appear once PagerDuty syncs. If an expected service isn't listed yet, check back shortly.
